Level 6 modules available in 2019/20

Module availability list 2019/20

* Please note: Changes to module allocations cannot be requested until August 2019 when the timetable is published.*

Level 6 modules are final year level undergraduate modules.

  • All final year students must take a total of 120 credits.

  • All single honours students take:
    - 60 credits from 1x Group III paired exam and dissertation
    - 30 credits from 1x Thematic Special Subject module
    - 30 credits from 1x Survey module OR 1x Group II module OR
    2x 15-credit modules (one per semester) OR 6AAH4000 Free Standing Long Essay (FSLE)

  • In History, combined honours students (History & International Relations, French & History, German & History, Liberal Arts History majors) take:
    - 30 credits from 1x Group III exam module
    - 30 credits from the paired Group III dissertation OR 6AAH4000 Free Standing Long Essay (FSLE)

  • In History, War Studies & History students only  take:
    - 30 credits from 1x Group III paired exam
    - 30 credits from 1x Group III paired dissertation OR 6AAH4000 Free Standing Long Essay (FSLE)

    OR (if opting to take the dissertation with War Studies):
     - 30 credits from 1x Group III exam module 
     - 30 credits from 1x Thematic Special Subject module
  • Finalists may elect to take an external module (intercollegiate, from another
    department, Opportunity, or an MLC language module, where applicable).  For further details and criteria please see our Module choices webpage.

  • Some modules have prohibited combinations. This means that you cannot take both modules during the course of your degree.

  • For students on the BA Liberal Arts programme, please consult your Student Handbook for the list of modules that you are eligible to request from this department.

Opportunity Modules

The Faculty ‘Opportunity modules’ are an innovative initiative to create novel spaces in which students can try something outside their own disciplines. They are specifically designed to be accessible to a wide range of students from across the Faculty and provide them with a supportive environment in which to experience cutting-edge research-informed teaching in subjects other than their own.
