The modules offered in each academic year are subject to change in line with staff availability and student demand: there is no guarantee every module will run. Module descriptions and information may vary between years.

This module investigates how the history of science, technology and medicine (STM) has been represented in public life. London offers a wide range of case studies from museums to monuments to help us reflect on the challenges and opportunities of public history, and its relationship to developments in academic history of STM. The module also engages with visual media - photos, films, television, as well as newer online visual formats - to examine whether and how ‘pictures’ have shaped representations of STM’s history.

The module may be of interest to students who wish to explore public history and/or the history of science, technology and medicine.
