Three new professors are joining King’s College London’s Department of Philosophy in 2015-16. Professor David Owens (above left) joins in September from the University of Reading, and focuses on moral and political philosophy. Professor Owens is "delighted to be joining one of the leading Philosophy departments in the UK, a department I have known for many years".
Professor Peter Adamson (above centre), presently at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich and a visiting researcher at King’s, will start in September. His research focus is late ancient and Islamic philosophy.
Finally, Professor Michael Beaney of the University of York (above right) will join King’s in January 2016, while also holding a part-time professorship at the Humboldt University of Berlin. His research focus is the history of analytical philosophy, and he also holds the post of editor of the British Journal for the History of Philosophy.
"I'm delighted to be joining King's College London, which has one of the best departments of philosophy in the country, with unique strength across the full range of the history of philosophy," said Professor Beaney. "I edit the British Journal for the History of Philosophy, one of the top-ranking international journals in the field, and the Department will provide the ideal host. Combining my job in London with a half-time post as Professor of History of Analytic Philosophy at the Humboldt University in Berlin, I look forward to working with colleagues at King's in developing and encouraging research in history of philosophy and philosophical activities generally in an international context."
