Request to change modules

If you change your mind about which modules you want to take, you are able to apply to change your modules by completing an online Module Change Request form (below).

Before making a change request, it is your responsibility to:

  • Check the timetable to make sure that your requested change does not cause clashes with your existing choices.
  • Check you will have a balance of modules across semesters (where possible).
  • Check the programme requirements for your programme.

Module changes can only be made where there is sufficient space in the module you wish to join.

Although it is not required for you to gain the approval of your personal tutor to change modules, we recommend that you inform your tutor about any module changes that are made.

Do not assume that your application will be approved, as all changes are dependent on the timetable and space being available on the module. You will be notified of the outcome of your application by email to your email address.

Complete the form below, including all module codes (which can be found in the module list on the department website).

Module change request deadlines and form

The Module Change Request form is available at the bottom of this page.

  • You can request to change Semester 1, Semester 2 and full year modules from 27 August 2019 to 27 September 2019 at midday.
  • You can also request to change Semester 2 modules ONLY from 2 December 2019 to 17 January 2020 at midday.

Any module change requests submitted during the Christmas College closure period will be responded to once Department Offices have re-opened. 

Any form sent before the opening date or after the closing date will be considered void.

Please note that requests for module changes will be considered on a 'first-come first-served' basis. Waiting lists from previous module change windows will NOT be carried forward.

External Module Request

Requests to take external modules during the module selection period (dates & deadlines TBC) must be submitted through the module change request form. Please note that requests for places on external modules cannot be guaranteed, and are subject to approval.


  • Module Change Instructions

    Before submitting a change request, please read the following information carefully.

    Please note that submitting a module change request form does not guarantee that a change to your registrations can be made.

    Changes to registrations will only be made if all of the following criteria are met:

      -It will not create a clash on your timetable – it is your responsibility to check your timetable before submitting this form
      -You meet any pre-requisites for the module – it is your responsibility to check your eligibility before submitting this form
      -The module change meets the requirements of your programme – it is your responsibility to check your programme requirements before submitting this form
      -There is space on the module

    Only module change requests submitted via this form are reviewed – directly asking the module convenor will not result in you being added to the module.

    Module change requests are only processed on a first-come, first-served basis . It is not possible to arrange a direct swap with another student.

    Module registrations change throughout the period, and it is not possible to provide up to date lists of where spaces are available – many modules are fully subscribed at the start of term, and remain so. You may be placed on a waiting list if your requested module is full, however please be aware that a space may not become available.

    Repeated module change requests will not be considered.
