Request to change modules
If you change your mind about which modules you want to take, you are able to apply to change your modules by completing an online Module Change Request form (below).
Before making a change request, it is your responsibility to check that the change would not result in a timetable clash, that you will have a balance of modules across semesters (where possible), and that you meet any specific programme requirements.
- Check the timetable to make sure that your requested change does not cause clashes with your existing choices.
- Check the programme requirements for your programme.
Please note also that module changes can only be made where there is sufficient space in the module you wish to join.
Although it is not required for you to gain the approval of your personal tutor to change modules, we recommend that you inform your tutor about any module changes that are made.
Do not assume that your application will be approved as all changes are dependent on the timetable and space being available on the module. You will be notified of the outcome of your application by email to your @kcl.ac.uk email address.

Module change request deadlines and form
- The final deadline to submit a module change request for Semester 1 modules was 6 October 2017.
- There will be a further opportunity to request to change your Semester 2 modules from 4 December 2017 until a final deadline of 19 January 2018.
Please note that requests for Semester 2 module changes will be considered on a 'first-come first-served' basis. Waiting lists from the October module change window will NOT be carried forward.
Request to change seminar group
You should be available for classes throughout the College’s teaching week (specified in the College timetabling policy). We will endeavour to ensure that the timetable is released sufficiently in advance of the commencement of teaching to assist students in making appropriate arrangements.
We will facilitate changes in your seminar group allocations when you have a timetable clash between classes on modules which count towards your award, or have accessibility needs (for example disabled access to a seminar room).
In some other exceptional circumstances we will allow you to switch between seminar groups on a module. This is permitted on the following grounds:
- Responsibilities as a carer or parent
- Recurring medical appointments
- Religious observance
- Commitments to an employer already entered into before seminar groups are published, and which cannot be easily altered (we will ask for evidence of this)
Any moves between seminar groups can only be made where constraints permit it, and it is not guaranteed that you will be able to change.

The strict deadline for receipt of seminar change requests is Friday 6 October 2017 at 17.00 for Semester 1 modules and 19 January 2018 at 17.00 for Semester 2 modules.
PLEASE NOTE: no seminar change requests for Semester 2 modules will be considered between 7 October - 3 December 2017.
