In 2016-17, the Faculty of Arts and Humanities launched a new kind of module for second and final year students. The Faculty ‘Opportunity modules’ are an innovative initiative to create novel spaces in which students can try something outside their own disciplines. They are specifically designed to be accessible to a wide range of students from across the Faculty and provide them with a supportive environment in which to experience cutting-edge research-informed teaching in subjects other than their own. In many cases the modules draw on more than one discipline, and all adopt a distinctively imaginative approach to their diverse themes.
Students already have some opportunities to take modules outside their home departments, and of course for those on combined programmes interdisciplinary is at the heart of what they do. These new modules can be approached as ‘tasters’, but they all offer in addition an exciting and challenging academic experience which will enhance CVs and provide a distinctive element in a King’s education, tapping into some of the defining characteristics of one of the world’s leading Arts and Humanities faculties.
There are also newly available introductory videos for some of the modules. Where available, these are linked below.
If you want to take one of these modules, please contact your home department who will be able to advise further.
