The Academic Regulations are made by Academic Board under delegated authority from the Council and govern the conduct of academic activity and student discipline. The Academic Regulations are published annually in September.
Academic Regulations and programme specifications in force when a student registers will normally apply to that student until completion of the programme. New or amended regulations, which are approved by Academic Board during an academic year, will come into force and apply to new students the following September. In the unlikely event of regulations being revised for the academic year in progress, amendments will be advertised here.
A College Officer may delegate their powers under these regulations to another College Officer, either generally or in respect of a particular matter, providing always that any person to whom these powers may be delegated will be in a position to act and be seen to act impartially.
Academic Regulations 2018/19 - Revisions
A thorough review of all aspects of governance and management around education was conducted in 2018, and proposals were approved by Academic Board in December 2018, having been considered by the College Education Committee prior to that. These proposals were developed to streamline and update the College Education Committee sub-structure, in line with the profile of our provision and our strategic priorities.
The reforms took effect from January 2019, however, the text contained in the Academic Regulations 2018/19 document will not be revised. Full details of these changes to governance will be posted on this site shortly.
