Recruit an Undergraduate Research Fellow
Academic proposal applications are now closed for 2018.
Through the Fellowship scheme, King's academics are able to work with undergraduate students. Students will benefit from the one-to-one research training that supervisors can provide, while building supervisory experience for academics.
Last year, there were over 150 Undergraduate Research Fellowships, funded with generous financial support from the King's alumni community. Students participating on the scheme are paid a bursary of £1000.00 for a project of one month, and up to an additional £1000.00 for any project extended up to a further month (in weekly increments of £250.00).
Students are able to be research assistants to academics in a variety of ways, including:
- library research;
- laboratory projects;
- qualitative research;
- performance-based research;
- contributions designed by the undergraduate themselves.
Propose a project
Applications are closed for academics to propose a research project for 2018. For reference, you can view the full list of projects that ran in 2017 by viewing last years brochure.
Projects will be evaluated according to the criteria outlined in the Programme Regulations. The scheme will cover an allowance for consumables and other expenses up to a maximum of £1000 (but ordinarily much less then this).
King's Experience will then advertise the research placements and opportunities to undergraduates.
Once students have applied, we will forward the list of applicants for your project to you for to review against criteria for selection. We hope that, in many cases, it will be possible for undergraduates to undertake projects outside their department, Faculty or institute: interdisciplinary projects and recruitment are encouraged by King's Experience.
Students will be provided with a half-day induction session before they undertake their project, overseen by the Head of Curriculum Innovation.
The Fellowships will culminate in students applying for the King's Experience Research Award.
