A placement can be a valuable and sometimes essential part of your degree, providing an opportunity for you to apply your subject knowledge and gain new experiences or insights into the way organisations operate and the real-life challenges faced in today’s working environment.
You will also have the opportunity to gain new employability skills specific to your subject or industry of choice allowing you to make better-informed decisions about future career choices.
Increasing numbers of students at King’s have the opportunity to undertake a placement – if you’re studying a health-related discipline, it’s likely you will do a clinical placement as an embedded part of your degree. Undergraduate students on the following programmes also benefit from dedicated resources and support from King’s Careers & Employability.
You may find your future role with the organisation where you do a placement - or it may help you to discover and understand a particular industry in more detail, equipping you to focus the next stage in your career journey.
If your programme doesn’t allow for a formal placement, you may be able to carry out an accredited internship module or we can help you to find and create your own extra-curricular work experience through internships, part-time work or experiential learning opportunities such as our King’s Experience Awards.
