Palliative and end of life care, people’s experience and narratives of health and illness, communication between health professionals and patients, health service research/care across different setting (community, hospice and hospital), and patient and public involvement in health and social care research.
Sophie completed a BSc in Psychology in 2009 and a Masters in Health Psychology in 2011 at the University of Sussex. She previously worked for the Research Design Service London situated within King’s College London advising researchers and clinicians preparing grant applications on Patient and Public Involvement (PPI). Sophie then worked with the Health Experiences Research Group supporting qualitative research looking at people’s experiences of health and illness.
Sophie joined the Department of Palliative Care, Policy and Rehabilitation in December 2014 and is working on the C-CHANGE project led by Dr Fliss Murtagh and Professor Irene Higginson, to develop and validate a patient-centred, nationally applicable casemix classification for adult palliative care provision. She is currently interviewing patient and carer representatives, service providers and commissioners on their views of casemix, complexity and outcomes to feed into the wider research program.
