Research interests: adolescent sexual health, behavioural change around HIV testing, prevention and adherence, and pain management for people living with HIV.
Biography: Venetia graduated from the University of California, Santa Cruz in 2012 with a BA in Sociology. She started her research career as a study coordinator for a maternal and infant health study based in the rural Eastern Cape of South Africa. While there she taught sex education to adolescent which motivated her to pursue an MSc in Reproductive and Sexual Health Research from LSHTM (the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine). After completing her MSc (2017), she worked with LSHTM to update and design a HIV distance learning module and facilitated a short course on adolescent health with the Desmond Tutu HIV Foundation in South Africa. Venetia joined the Cicely Saunders Institute in November 2018 as a qualitative research assistant. She works on the Pain Relief Intervention using Self-Management, for people living with HIV.
