We are pleased to announce Dr Catherine Evans’ award of a NIHR Clinical Academic Training Clinical Lectureship in Palliative Care. The award is a collaboration between the Cicely Saunders Institute and Sussex Community NHS Trust. Catherine holds a joint role as a clinical lecturer in palliative care working across the two organisations to develop and evaluate a collaborative model of short-term palliative care for older people in the community. This is a four year post that provides a wonderful opportunity for closer working between these organisations to develop clinical practice and the evidence base on palliative care for older people and effective working between generalist and specialist practitioners.
Professor Peter Parker, of King’s College London said:“This is a terrific appointment and an opportunity for the Cicely Saunders Institute to build links with Sussex Community Trust. Catherine Evans will bring enormous energy to this endeavour and I am delighted that we have her on board.”
Andrew Harrington, Executive Director of Operations and Chief Nurse at Sussex Community Trust said:"Sussex Community Trust is both pleased and excited about the opportunities for better patient care in Catherine's new role and to be part of this research project. Catherine's post will benefit patients in Sussex and her research will hopefully have far wider benefits for patients all over the country"
