Barbara Gomes talks about place of death, preferences and home care
Dr Barbara Gomes (Research Fellow at the Cicely Saunders Institute) was interviewed last month for the Portuguese TV programme Civil Society. Following a new report published by Barbara's research team examining preferences and place of death in Portugal, Civil Society dedicated an episode to ‘Choosing Where to Die’. Barbara explained the origins of the report (funded by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation), the importance of the topic in Portugal, and how the findings can translate into action, to ensure that palliative care services develop where people prefer to be cared for and to die. You can watch the full episode (in Portuguese) here, Barbara’s participation starts at around 22.42 min.
