At the triennial African Palliative Care Association conference, in Johannesburg, Dr Richard Harding, Reader at the Cicely Saunders Institute, was presented with a special award for his “dedication to improving the evidence base for palliative care in Africa”. The award was also in recognition of his volume of publications in the field. See our publications section.
The award was presented by Mary Calloway of the Open Society Institute. The conference was attended by Ministers of Health from 12 African countries.
