We are pleased to report a very successful launch event to celebrate our theme on palliative and end of life care, as part of the new South London Collaboration for Leadership in Applied Health Research and Care (CLAHRC), awarded by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR).

Delegates reported the event as interesting, informative and thought provoking, as well as an opportunity to make connections with colleagues (both new and old). Presentations were given on the use of outcome measures by Dr Fliss Murtagh and routine data by Dr Gao Wei. We were also very privileged to have Professor Peter Littlejohns, Deputy Head of the NIHR CLAHRC South London presenting, as well as representatives Shelley Dolan and Maureen McGinn from the London Cancer Alliance group present. The event closed with a very poignant presentation from Mr Tony Bonser, a trustee of the National Council for Palliative Care. Discussion was certainly on the agenda and many valuable suggestions were collated from delegates on their views and suggestions of how the NIHR CLAHRC South London can be utilised within their organisation and ultimately improve care for patients and their families.

Further to the success of this event, a newsletter is currently being drafted to keep the public informed on progress with the CLAHRC and any updates on events will be posted here.
