Delivering Dignity Award
The work of the Clinical Palliative Care Team, who are based at the Cicely Saunders Institute, has been recognised by the Delivering Dignity project.
The Delivering Dignity Awards promote new initiatives to enhance dignified, compassionate care for older people with dementia in hospital when providing palliative care.
Jennifer Karno, Matron in Palliative Care, gave a tour of a ward to Dignity Champion peers, highlighting new initiatives such as designated space for patient/carer essential private conversations, and shared the experience of multidisciplinary working using a patient case to show how we provide dignity in hospital for dementia patients.
The award prize of £200 will be used to facilitate the purchase of comfort packs for carers who want to stay with their loved ones overnight to support patient care, in order to influence and sustain these changes in care.
