Dame Barbara Monroe presents seminar to a packed audience
Dame Cicely Saunders and the hospice vision – is the hospice fit for the 21st century?’— Dame Barbara Monroe presents a seminar to a packed audience
Over 100 people turned up to hear Dame Barbara Monroe talk about the core values and legacy of the hospice concept, established by Dame Cicely Saunders in founding St Christopher’s, of which Dame Barbara was formerly chief executive, in 1967. She also examined the evidence for hospice efficacy in meeting current need and looked at the role hospices may play in managing future challenges in the provision of end-of-life care.
This was a thought-provoking and stimulating overview, which was also highly relevant and which provided much to consider, reflect on and debate. Dame Barbara dealt with the issues and challenges for hospice care with clarity and incisiveness.
Given on 25 February 2015, the seminar was part of the Dame Cicely Saunders: Celebrating the Continuation of Her Life’s Work programme and the Cicely Saunders Institute Seminar Series. You can
