Supportive Care for the Renal Patient

The ‘Supportive Care for the Renal Patient’ course, which was organised by Dr Fliss Murtagh of the Cicely Saunders Institute along with Dr Edwina Brown and Dr Emma Murphy, was an opportunity for joint learning with a mixture of lectures and small group case discussions to explore developments in end of life care for patients with renal disease.

The wider aims of this meeting were to:

  • Promote communication between renal and palliative care health professionals
  • Improve management of end of life for renal patients
  • Disseminate results of research projects
  • Facilitate small group discussions to enable joint learning and networking

This year’s course, which took place on Thursday 10th and Friday 11th September, was attended by 85 multi-professional delegates from a range of countries including Denmark, Spain, Germany, the Netherlands and the USA as well as many from the UK. The programme, which included a keynote talk by Professor Fred Finkelstein (Professor of Medicine, Yale University) on patient-focused care at end of life, was highly evaluated and very successful.

The next course will be taking place on Thursday 8th and Friday 9th September 2016. To register your interest in attending this event please email W12 Conferences at events@w12conferences.co.uk or call 0203 313 1609.
