Our Connections
Research
In the most recent Research Excellence Framework (REF2021), CMCI - in a joint submission with the Department of Digital Humanities - was ranked as the 7th institution in the UK overall, and 3rd in Power Rankings. 100 per cent of the Unit's research impact and research environment were rated as either ‘world leading’ (4*) or ‘internationally excellent’ (3*). 88.9% of research outputs were valued as ‘world leading’ (4*) or ‘internationally excellent’ (3*).
Guided by four strategic priorities; inclusivity, sustainability, care and reflexivity, and in keeping with King’s 2029 strategy, the Department provides impactful responses to globally significant issues. Whether that’s through analysing cultures in transition, exploring global media platforms, promoting creative diversity, or fostering sustainable and inclusive cultural futures.
Our work is highly collaborative and we value co-production with many creative partners such as the BBC, museums like the Tate Modern and Museum of London, and cultural institutions such as the Roundhouse and the Royal Opera House.
