King’s creative wellbeing workshops in the #ArcadeGarden

14 June – 28 September 2018

Over July and August, King’s hosted a programme of seven free creative wellbeing workshops in the Arcade Garden at Bush House.

The first two workshops focused on mindfulness and were hosted by Dr Tamara Russell, clinical psychologist and Director of the Mindfulness Centre of Excellence. In the first workshop participants immersed themselves in the Japanese textile art sashiko using sewing to restore their attention and create a unique artwork. The second workshop drew on tai-chi and principles of neuroscience, exploring how the moving body can be a tool for mindfulness.

Other events included a workshop on breathing and vocal exercises hosted by artist, Valeria Radchenko, a session led by The Perfume Mistress, Tanya Moulding on the health benefits of essential oils from plants and a flora and fauna watercolour painting session by Lizzy Rider, creator of design company Indi Skoven. Workshop participants said that they were a wonderful way to relax and engage in creativity, with one describing their experience as ‘the best lunch break ever’.
