Research Groups

Research Groups

The Tissue Engineering & Biophotonics Research Groups are based in the Tower Wing of Guy's Hospital, London Bridge and King's College Hospital, Denmark Hill. Most of the research laboratories are on Floor 17, Tower Wing.

Within our division, we have the following research groups:

Tooth Wear Research Group carries out laboratory based, in-situ and clinical studies on tooth wear. The major focus and expertise is on dental erosion. 

The Biophotonics Group focuses on developing novel spectroscopic and microscopic optical techniques for the characterisation of bioengineered, human and animal tissues.

The Biomaterials Group primarily focuses on developing and characterising innovative novel biomaterials suited for technology transfer and through to clinical translation.

The Tissue Engineering and Cell Biology Laboratory provides modern facilities for cellular, biochemical, molecular and bioreactor research. 

The Academic Centre of Reconstructive Science is a newly emerging group based on the 20th floor the Tower Wing, Guy’s Campus.

The Clinical Dentistry Group primarily focuses on developing and characterising innovative novel restoration materials suited for clinical translation. 

The Oral Surgery and Maxillofacial Group has established a national and international reputation in the prevention, management and education in trigeminal nerve post traumatic neuropathy related to dental surgery.
