Research groups and labs

The Faculty of Dentistry, Oral & Craniofacial Sciences promotes cutting edge collaborative research within an interdisciplinary context.

We have research groups and labs which have secured positions at the forefront of international scientific research and which make major contributions to teaching, training and research by inspiring and nurturing the next generation of scientific leaders.

Basson Lab

Research that is primarily focused on chromatin remodelling factors implicated in neurodevelopmental disorders.

Bergholt Lab

A multidisciplinary research team working on label-free bioimaging.

Chiappini Lab

Nanotechnology, bioengineering and cell biology to develop functional materials that direct cell behaviour, for applications in regenerative and precision medicine.

Deb Lab

Biomaterials for regenerative medicine & dentistry.

Di Silvio Lab

Understanding the biology of cell-material interfaces and develop novel therapies for musculoskeletal regeneration and repair using tissue engineering strategies

Francis-West Lab

The Francis-West lab aims to understand mechanisms of skeletal development focusing on the Dchs1-Fat4 signalling pathway, which regulates cell differentiation and morphogenesis.

Garnett Lab

The Garnett Lab investigates molecular mechanisms that promote bacterial disease. In particular we are interested in biofilm formation and other key virulence traits that allow bacteria to establish infections and persist within the host/environment.

Gentleman Lab

The Gentleman lab works at the interface of stem cell biology, chemistry and materials science to develop innovative biomaterials for regenerative medicine.

Green Lab

The Green Laboratory investigates tissue morphogenesis and the action of morphogens.

Lehner Lab

The Lehnher Lab introduced Immunology nationally and globally to investigate the mechanism and prevention of dental and oral diseases.
