Further details on funding
We have a wealth of information on funding on our Sharepoint.
We manage and support cohorts of academics across various training programmes, which each span different career stages.
NIHR Internships are available for health professionals with no prior experience of research. The internships offer time with a research group and some self-study to complete a project of your own.
The INSIGHT programme provides studentships to allow nurses, midwives and professions allied to healthcare to pursue a Masters (at King’s College London or one of our partner universities).
The IAT programme allows medical and dental trainees to undertake academic and clinical training concurrently. Trainees can join the programme in the early stages of their specialty training as an Academic Clinical Fellow.
The Centre for Translational Medicine (CTM) funds a range of programmes, including Pre-Doctoral Clinical Research Excellence Fellowships. These fellowships provide protected research time and training for health professionals working in translational medicine.
This Wellcome Trust-funded programme trains the next generation of clinical academics in mental health research. The training fellowships are available to a wide range of health professionals including doctors, nurses, midwives, psychologists and professionals allied to healthcare working across a diverse range of topics in mental health science.
The IAT programme allows medical and dental trainees to undertake academic and clinical training concurrently. Trainees who are advanced in their specialty training and have obtained a doctoral research degree can join the programme as a Clinical Lecturer.
CTM-funded Post-Doctoral Clinical Research Excellence Fellowships provide protected research time and training for health professionals working in translational medicine.
Research Partnership Catalyst Awards are designed for postdoctoral consultants or senior practitioner health professionals. They offer two-year funding of one day a week of protected research time, allowing health professionals with strong research experience to increase their research activity.
King’s College London also provides access to many funded fellowships (whether government, industry or charitable) at pre-doctoral, doctoral and post-doctoral levels. We recommend checking the University’s Research Funding Opportunities page. If you’re currently at King’s, you can also access the Research Funding Support Hub and the funding pages on the KCATO SharePoint.
We also support those who are self-funded or funded by an alternative means at each career stage. For example, grants and fellowships are available from external funding bodies.
