A holistic view to HIV-1 entry and fusion
This week's speaker is Sergi Padilla-Parra, Head of Core in Cellular Imaging & Principal Investigator Virus-Entry Imaging Group, Wellcome Trust Centre for Human Genetics, University of Oxford.
Research focus
I develop advanced light microscopy and functional analyses allowing the detection of HIV-1 virion fusion to relevant target cells (CD4+T lymphocytes, dendritic cells, microglial cells and macrophages). I combine advanced imaging using FRET-based biosensors and fluorescence fluctuation spectroscopy. This multidisciplinary approach allows us to identify novel cellular targets related to HIV infection and latency in primary cells.
