Book Launch: A Research Agenda for Law, Finance and the Environment
Somerset House East Wing, Strand Campus, London

The regulation of sustainable finance connects with existential challenges for the whole planet. The new edited collection A Research Agenda for Law, Finance and the Environment (Edward Elgar, 2026), co-edited by Prof Megan Bowman (King’s College London) and Dr Laura Mai (University of Amsterdam), brings together a diverse range of legal and regulatory voices to debate sustainable finance and offer fresh insights for research and practice around the world.
Including contributions across Asia, Africa, North America, Australia and Europe, the book examines financial instruments and institutions that mobilise capital, from multilateral development banks to green bonds, as well as regulatory instruments such as reporting requirements and tax policy. Chapters also explore important ‘disruptors’ to the status quo, including corporate climate litigation, carbon coins, Islamic finance instruments, and climate reparations.
To mark the publication of this book, several contributors will discuss how their work speaks to current developments in this essential area and reflect on future directions for research at the intersection of law, finance, and the environment.
Speakers:
Tom Tayler (Director of Policy and Finance at Earth Capital Nexus at LSE)
Naga Aditya Koneru (Australian Actuary and admitted Lawyer Supreme Court of NSW)
Hannah Getachew (Ethiopian-British climate justice advocate based in the UK)
