This event marks the launch of David Brydan’s new book, Smart: A History of Intelligence (Footnote Press, February 2026).

The book tells the story of the people and projects that built the idea of intelligence in the 20th century. David will be in conversation with Fay Bound Alberti (Director of the Centre for Technology and the Body) and Federico Turkheimer (Director of the King’s Institute for Human and Synthetic Minds). The talk is hosted by the Centre for the History of Science, Technology and Medicine, and will be followed by a drinks reception.
