This new Images of Research competition and exhibition encourages King’s doctoral students to explore how they can communicate the aims, concepts, ideas, approaches, or findings of their research through images. The brief was intentionally broad in scope, encouraging creativity in how students chose to showcase their research to a diverse, non-specialist audience.​

King’s College London is home to more than 4,000 doctoral students conducting research across a wide range of topics, all seeking to discover something new. Whether exploring the microscopic details of 20th-century paintings, understanding the experiences of indigenous communities affected by deforestation and climate change, or investigating how computational models and laboratory analysis can advance our understanding of complex diseases, this exhibition offers a snapshot of the significant contributions made by our doctoral research community.​

This competition and exhibition have been organised by the King’s Doctoral College – the central department that, in part, supports doctoral students in developing the foundational research skills and knowledge needed to produce high-quality academic research. Through initiatives like this Images of Research competition, the Public Engagement Small Grants, and workshops with public engagement and research communication experts, the Doctoral College creates opportunities and provides funding and training which aims to help doctoral students broaden the impact of their research beyond the university.
