Home Care Research Forum May 2026
At the Forum in May
The Home Care Research Forum provides an opportunity for researchers, people working in the field and others with an interest in homecare to gather and discuss current exciting research and to establish new networks and connections.
Talk 1: Gender- and Race-Blind Policy Design in Home Care: Implications for Workforce Inequality and Labour Hierarchies
Dr Meherunissa Hamid, Research Fellow, Faculty of Public Health and Policy, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine
Drawing on interviews with policymakers and home care workers, this presentation highlights how gender- and race-blind policy design risk reproducing workforce inequalities with implications for gendered and racialised labour hierarchies in the sector.
Talk 2: Resources for Homecare Workers supporting continence care of people with dementia (DemCon 2)
Dr Barbara Bradbury, Senior Research Fellow, University of Southampton and Dr Fauzia Knight, Research Fellow, King's College London
A bespoke website for homecare workers who provide continence care for people living with dementia has been co-developed by professional homecare workers and researchers from the University of Southampton and King's College London, and is being evaluated by homecare workers. The resources will be presented to the Forum and homecare workers will be invited to share their ideas and knowledge, and contribute to the website evaluation.
