Are you currently working on an application for funding or are likely to soon? Perhaps you’re not sure where to start and are facing the blank page barrier? Not sure that anything AI can produce is the right thing? In this workshop, you’ll work with a simulated funding application to ease you into your writing; give and get feedback from peers at a similar career stage to you; and receive input and help from KCATO Deputy Director Professor Rina Dutta. Health professional researchers who’ve recently successfully received funding will also be hand to give insights into their experiences.
Please note that there is some pre-work for this workshop which you’ll need to submit a week beforehand. More details will be provided closer to the time.
What you will get out of attending this session:
By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:
- Understand the key components of a competitive funding application (structure, clarity, alignment with funder priorities).
- Apply peer review principles to critically evaluate research proposals.
- Identify strengths and weaknesses in funding applications and provide constructive feedback.
- Revise and improve their own applications based on peer and facilitator feedback.
- Collaborate effectively with peers to enhance research funding success.
