The Menzies Australia Institute presents an evening with celebrated historian, Dr Clare Wright, in conversation about her landmark new work, 'You Daughters of Freedom.'

Wright explores the challenges and victories of the women’s suffrage movement through the eyes of five remarkable players. Her book demonstrates the role that Australian women played in leading the global women’s suffrage movement, particularly in Britain. In the tradition of Bettany Hughes and Lucy Worsley, Clare Wright’s engaging and best-selling historical journeys have won great acclaim and wide audiences, through both her books and broadcasting.

This is a rare and timely opportunity to hear a charismatic author discuss a captivating period in world history and the movement for women’s liberation.

About the author

Clare Wright is an award-winning America-Australian historian and is the author of the Stella prize-winning 'The Forgotten Rebels of Eureka'. She is a Principal Research Fellow and Associate Professor of History at La Trobe University in Melbourne, Australia.
