Perinatal inflammation influences but does not arrest rapid immune development in preterm babies
Speaker: Dr Deena Gibbons, School of Immunology & Microbial Sciences
Dr Deena Gibbons is a Lecturer in Immunology at King’s. Deena completed her PhD on the Immunology of Rheumatoid arthritis at the University of London with Marc Feldmann and Fionula Brennan. She then did several postdocs at the Institute for Cancer Research and at King’s on subjects ranging from childhood leukaemia to gut immunology and T cell function.
Deena now runs her own research group focusing on understanding immune cell development and function in the human neonate. Deena is an active member of the British Society for Immunology, is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and is the director of the MSc in Immunology at King’s College London.
