Undergraduate Taster Days: Film Studies (International Film Remakes: From Turkish Star Wars to the Mexican Batwoman) - 30 November 2020

Please note that this event has passed.

Get a taste for life at King's at our online event for those interested in undergraduate study.

In this taster session, you will learn about the fascinating international phenomenon of low-budget remakes of Hollywood blockbusters. Throughout the latter half of the 20th century, there were unlicensed reworkings of Hollywood films produced in industries around the globe, including Brazil, Italy, Turkey, Mexico, India, and the Philippines.

This session will help us consider what films such as Dünyayı Kurtaran Adam (1982, known as the ‘Turkish Star Wars’) and La Mujer Murciélago (1968, known as the ‘Mexican Batwoman’) can tell us about the politics of globalisation and the international spread of American popular culture.

This is your chance to learn more about our courses and what it's like to live and study in London.
