Get a taste for life at King's at our online event for those interested in undergraduate study in Music.

In late-eighteenth-century Vienna, one particular pastime trumped all others: dancing. The city was famous for its dance halls, which saw grand public balls held frequently at certain points in the year. The dance most frequently performed at these balls was the minuet, which numerous people learnt to dance in this period. The fact that composers, performers and audiences knew how to dance the minuet meant that they would have the minuet dance in mind when composing, playing or listening to musical minuets in the concert hall. In this session, we’ll explore some of the history of this eighteenth-century dance culture, and will learn the basic steps of the minuet as it was danced in this period. In short, we’ll learn to party like it’s 1790s Vienna!

This is your chance to learn more about our courses and what it's like to live and study in London.
