Principal’s Global Leadership Award: Undergraduate

Open to all King's students studying an undergraduate degree, the Principal's Global Leadership Award provides insights and conceptual understandings about global leadership.

Applications for 2023/24 are now closed.

Applications for the academic year 2024/25 will open in October 2024.

All King's students who have completed the first year of an undergraduate degree, in any faculty, can apply to take this course alongside their degree.

You'll have access to four face-to-face classes (approximately two hours per class), as well as the unique opportunity to participate in either a residential weekend at Cumberland Lodge or an away day at King’s. You will also be required to do individual study and reflection, and an assessment.

Please note that attendance at all the sessions and residential weekend or away-day is mandatory.

By the end of the course, you will be able to:

> demonstrate knowledge and critical understanding of leadership theory and practice.
> demonstrate knowledge and critical understanding of leadership within an ethical framework.
> analyse leadership as a social practice.
> apply leadership skills in individual and group tasks.
> present a leadership strategy in relation to a specific global issue, proposing solutions to problems.

You will need to submit a 1,000 word reflection after the residential weekend or away-day and a 1,500 word leadership proposal at the end of the course. The assessment is designed to consolidate and enhance learning, exploring global leadership as a collaborative social practice.

Applications open annually. You can apply via the application form once it's open.

If you successfully complete the Principal’s Global Leadership Award, it will be featured on your Higher Education Achievement Report.
