Industrial action

Strike action: Everything you need to know

The University and College Union (UCU) has received a mandate for industrial action over the sector-wide pension scheme, Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS). This is an ongoing national dispute about pensions which has affected 74 universities across the UK.

We respect the right of our colleagues to take industrial action and recognise that no-one takes the decision to strike lightly.

We’re committed to doing everything we possibly can to support students during the industrial action and we are working closely with faculties, departments and our student union, to minimise the impact of the disruption on students’ studies.

We’ve compiled Q&As to answer questions students and parents/guardians might have about the strike action or how students might be affected.

If you have a query which isn’t answered in the Q&A, please contact questions@kcl.ac.uk.
