Protein identification

Red_vials_edit_detail

Protein identification from 1D gel bands is a routine process in the Facility.

In a typical workflow, excision from the gel is followed by an enzymatic digestion into peptides prior to LC-MS/MS analysis.

Correct sample preparation is highly important to ensuring that an accurate result is achieved from the sample analysis.

Mass compatible staining, such as Imperial stain, should be used when visualising the proteins on the gel. Use the best quality water, acids and solvents and avoid cross contamination. To achieve the maximum from your samples, we suggest that you use these recommended protocols.
