An international student from Brazil, Anna had her heart set on doing a degree at King's and chose to do a Foundation to get her used to life in London and experience King's firsthand. The course gave her a 'really good base' with programming which is a feature of the Biomedical Engineering degree that she is currently studying.
Eid decided to study a Foundation course to get a fundamental grounding in Accounting and Finance. He has always been passionate about finance and banking and the financial district being on your doorstep in London was a big draw. Meeting people from all over the world and the support from the Foundations team has helped him map out his future.
For Utku, he always wanted to study in the UK at a prestigious university. He felt that King's offered this as well as the potential to expand social networks. He had no experience in writing academic essays and the Foundation programme also helped signficantly with this.
The Foundation programme helped give Shiori more confidence to talk in front of people. She made lots of friends from societies and events that have a range of different views and they enjoys that diversity.
With the qualifications Catalina had when leaving school in Chile, it would have been a big challenge to apply for a degree in the UK. The Foundation course she studied offered a great way to get to King's and was a perfect 'stepping stone' to a BA in International Relations. She says the King's community has become a 'second family' to her because of how much support there is and how much it cares for students' wellbeing.
The UK has a lot of culture and for Keita this was the best reason for him to study a Foundations programme at King's as an international student. Through the foundation he got interested in the humanities more which led to him going on to study Liberal Arts at undergraduate. When he came to England, Keita didn't know how to write an academic essay but by the end of the course his writing skills had much improved.
For May, the International Foundation helped her develop a deeper passion for English Literature. She particularly liked the Liberal Arts module that allowed for creativity and passion. The Foundation allowed her to meet like minded people and get involved in societies such as Roar News that allowed her to feel more at home on the programme.
The high school diploma that Julia left school with in Switzerland wasn't fully recognised by higher education institutions in the UK so the Foundation programme was the perfect was to gain a grounding in higher education. She found the Foundation degree was great at giving an introduction of complex numbers which was expected knowledge at the start of her undergraduate degree.
Smoothing the transition between High School and university was one of the main reasons the King's International Foundation programme appealed to Maryam. The ability to study on the King's campus and be a student on campus was a big draw too. She found regular meetings with her personal tutors was very beneficial both academically as well as pastorally. She found the programme to be a good balance between social life and academics.
