Rachel Blakey.docxPhD title: Family adversity and conduct disorder in adolescence: risk and resilience

To me, the most exciting areas of research are at the extremes of adolescent development. My PhD centres one of those extremes; conduct disorder. Specifically, I am examining modifiers of the effects of family adversity in the development of conduct disorder.

I am a PhD student working within the REACH (Resilience, Ethnicity, and AdolesCent Mental Health) project. I am currently helping facilitate data collection using a computerised battery of measures from our cohort of ~4000 adolescents aged 11-16 as well as personal interview data from our nested sub-study of ~700 adolescents. I also contribute to engagement work we do including delivering mental health awareness talks in schools, developing and disseminating mental health teaching materials, and facilitating research workshops for adolescents.
