The Maudsley Masterclasses are oneday educational events that provide cutting edge updates on the latest research and clinical findings across psychiatry from leaders in the field. They are aimed at psychiatrists, GPs and other practising clinicians who want a digested overview of the latest evidence in a range of topical areas.
2009 was the centenary of the publication in which Henry Maudsley first outlined his vision for a new, special sort of hospital- a vision that was subsequently realised as the Maudsley Hospital and Institute of Psychiatry. He saw this special hospital as a place for the systematic study of mental illness where clinicians and researchers were “stimulating one another by constant intercourse”.
With Henry Maudsley’s vision in mind, the Maudsley Masterclass brings together clinicians and researchers to discuss recent findings, particularly those from work conducted locally, and to improve the understanding and treatment of mental illnesses.
