Danese Lab: Stress & Development

The Lab aims to understand how stressful experiences in childhood affect development and later health, and how to best support children who had such traumatic experiences.

Developmental Neuroimaging

Our research uses neuroimaging, neurocognitive, and psychopharmacological methods to better understand ADHD and related child psychiatric disorders as well as normal brain development from childhood to adulthood. Furthermore, we use neurotherapeutics such as fMRI-Neurofeedback and brain stimulation to develop novel brain-based treatment for these disorders.

Developmental Psychopathology Lab

In the Developmental Psychopathology Lab, we investigate how stressful environments exacerbate underlying genetic vulnerabilities to affect children’s development. We are particularly interested in the impact of psychopathology in caregivers (and associated risks) on children’s antisocial behaviour, and the relative role of prenatal and postnatal risk exposures.

Diabetes, Psychiatry, & Psychology Research Group

The Diabetes, Psychiatry, & Psychology Research Group is a multidisciplinary team. The group is part of the Psychological Medicine Department at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN) and Diabetes Clinical Academic Groups of King's Health Partners (KHP) crossing the interface between psychiatry and medicine.

DISCOVER Research Group

Adolescence is a key period for the prevention and treatment of depression and anxiety, as half of lifetime mental health problems start by the age of fourteen. However, few evidence-based treatments exist and current services are limited. Additionally, help-seeking is very low, particularly among black and minority ethnic groups.

Developmental Neuroimaging

Our research uses neuroimaging, neurocognitive, and psychopharmacological methods to better understand ADHD and related child psychiatric disorders as well as normal brain development from childhood to adulthood.

Blank spaceThe first of its kind in the UK, our cutting-edge research aims to improve understanding of domestic violence and abuse (DVA) perpetration and victimisation among military personnel and their partners.
