ALS/motor neuron disease

Working closely with our patients, our prize-winning, world-leading research programme aims to understand the causes of ALS/MND, dissect out the differences between clinical presentations, and use this information to develop new treatments.

Altering Behaviour in Children

Improving understanding of children with behavioural difficulties by assessing brain changes following parenting interventions

Alzheimer’s disease

We research the underlying causes of Alzheimer's disease, including genetics and environmental factors, to determine why only some people are affected. We also research the mechanisms that lead to disease to discover/isolate events at the cellular level that cause Alzheimer's disease. Pre-symptomatic changes may hold the answer for providing a window to intervene and stop this disease before it takes a hold.

Centre for Anxiety Disorders & Trauma

The Centre for Anxiety Disorders and Trauma (CADAT) was founded by Professors David Clark, Anke Ehlers and Paul Salkovskis in 2000. The current Joint Clinical Directors are Dr Blake Stobie and Professor David Veale.  CADAT has made clear contributions in the fields of research, clinical care, education and training; the tripartite mission of King’s Health Partners.  Our Centre is a leader in research, training and the clinical treatment of anxiety in the UK.  CADAT is also a psychological therapy outpatient service based within the South London & Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust and is the main contributor to research into anxiety disorders in the Trust.

Autism and Related Disorders (ARD) Lab

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) are two major neuropsychiatric conditions that quite commonly occur together.

Autism spectrum disorder

We combine models with clinical observations to study how specific mutations change cells and their connections, and how this affects behaviour. The effect of these cellular and neural network alterations are studied to find ways to gain insights into this complex condition.

Autism & Related Disorders (ARD) Lab

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) are two major neuropsychiatric conditions that quite commonly occur together. In both conditions, genetic and non genetic factors are implicated.

Autism and Development Team

The Autism & Development Research Group aim to increase the understanding of cognitive and behavioral development in individuals with autism and the factors that influence this over time.

Brain circuits

In this programme we exploit the latest in molecular, optogenetic, electophysiological and live-imagine tools to study circuit formation and brain plasticity.
