Centres & groups

Cells & Behaviour Unit

The Cells and Behaviour Unit investigates the neurobiological mechanisms governing mood and cognition in health & disease using fundamental and translational research.

Our Mission is to uncover fundamental mechanisms of mood and cognitive processes, as well as to reveal the biological basis of psychiatric disorders to identify and validate new intervention targets.

Centre for Global Mental Health

CGMH is a joint Centre between King’s College London and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. CGMH aims to address inequities by closing the care gap, and to reduce human rights abuses experienced by people living with mental, neurological and substance use conditions

Circuit assembly - Neuroscience sub-theme

Understanding how neurons wire up to form functional networks is a critical problem for neuroscientists. We combine the power of genetics with advanced functional imaging and electrophysiology to investigate the cellular and molecular mechanisms controlling the assembly of neural circuits.

Centre for Implementation Science

The Centre for Implementation Science is home to a team of expert implementation and improvement science researchers, including health economists and statisticians. This team are investigating how best to help ‘implement’ evidence-based practice and clinical research within health services in south London, nationally and internationally.

Cognition Schizophrenia and Imaging (CSI) team

The Cognition, Schizophrenia and Imaging Laboratory (CSI Lab) at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience, King's College London, seeks to understand the core biological mechanisms responsible for the development and symptoms of psychotic illness. The research team works with both people with psychosis and healthy volunteers to find out more about the brain and why normal processes can fail

A randomised, double blind, placebo controlled parallel group trial of vitamin D supplementation compared to placebo in people presenting with their First Episode of psychosis Neuroprotection Design.

UK Dementia Research Institute

The UK Dementia Research Institute is the UK’s single biggest investment in dementia research. Revolutionary in scale and scope, it will transform dementia research in the UK.

Developmental Psychopathology Lab

In the Developmental Psychopathology Lab, we investigate how stressful environments exacerbate underlying genetic vulnerabilities to affect children’s development. We are particularly interested in the impact of psychopathology in caregivers (and associated risks) on children’s antisocial behaviour, and the relative role of prenatal and postnatal risk exposures.
