Academic visiting appointments

Academic visiting appointments may be awarded to professors, senior lecturers or lecturers holding a substantive appointment in another higher education institution (HEI) or research organisation who have made a commitment to contribute to both research and teaching activities at the IoPPN.

During their appointment, academics are expected to attend departmental events and participate fully in the teaching and/or research activities of their chosen department. Academics may be asked to present their work at departmental meetings, contribute to teaching sessions or work collaboratively to produce journal articles or research proposals.

Further details

  • The length of an appointment will reflect the period of the planned contribution to research and teaching up to a maximum of three years. (Appointments may be considered for renewal where the contribution is ongoing).
  • Fees are not applicable to these appointments.

How to apply

Potential academic visitors must first identify a sponsor who must be an academic member of staff employed by King's College London in a relevant department at the IoPPN. They should make contact with this sponsor to verify that they are willing to act as a sponsor.

The sponsor will then seek approval from the Faculty and, if approval is granted, will be able to provide details on arrangements for the appointment.
