The Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience promotes cutting edge collaborative research within an interdisciplinary context. 

The conditions and disorders we research impact people at every stage in life, from neurodevelopmental disorders in childhood and adolescence through to neurodegenerative conditions in older people.

Our community of researchers work together to translate insights from discovery science (including neuroscience, genomics, social science and psychology) to interventions to improve patient care and quality of life. 

Our research centres have secured positions at the forefront of international scientific research and make major contributions to teaching, training and research by inspiring and nurturing the next generation of scientific leaders.

Our research agenda is entering a new phase of growth and development as we embrace the new opportunities that are arising from our developing partnerships, invest strategically in areas highlighted as local and national priorities, and make full use of emerging technologies and fantastic research facilities.

A defining feature of the IoPPN is its partnership with the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (SLaM), the largest mental health trust in the country. As well as serving the communities of South London, SLaM provides specialist services for people from across the UK and beyond.
