The Department of Engineering at King’s College London has seen significant investment and growth since its relaunch in 2019. After a c.£50m investment, the department now sits at the centre of our Strand Campus in central London, housed in the recently completed 3000m² Quad redevelopment, boasting cutting-edge research facilities, and new learning and teaching spaces. The department has embarked on a period of growth in line with university ambitions to create a culture of diversity and inclusivity.

We are now seeking our next Head of Department as the department continues its journey. Working closely with the Executive Dean and Faculty Leadership Team, the post holder will be responsible for continuing to drive forward the ambitions of engineering at King’s. This includes continuing to foster excellent, innovative, interdisciplinary, research-led education, as well as nurturing existing and new cross faculty research links, and building collaborations with industry and external collaborators globally.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to our vision to develop an agile and future facing department with an international reputation, which brings together engineering disciplines and reaches out to other disciplines to deliver research and innovation that delivers real impact and benefits for people, society, industry, and the planet. Engineering is well poised to contribute to King’s agendas around sustainability, as well as to wider university investment in the sciences.

The successful candidate will have a substantial track record in research, teaching and professional achievement within engineering, including significant management and leadership roles.

The closing date for applications is 23.59 on Monday 11th December 2023. The selection process will include a rigorous shortlisting and interview process, with first round interviews scheduled for Monday 8th January and final interviews Wednesday 24th January 2024.
