About Us

The People Partnering & Advisory team is the front face of HR, responsible for working with the Directorates and Faculties to align our vision and our people. This role reports to the Senior HR Business Partner and is responsible for providing dedicated support within the Estates and Facilities directorate on a full range of people matters.

Estates and Facilities is the largest professional services directorate at Kings College London, with a diverse range of frontline and operational staff covering areas such as cleaning, security, catering, engineering and campus operations.

About the Role

THIS VACANCY IS OPEN TO INTERNAL APPLICANTS ONLY

The HR Manager will manage a team of two HR Advisors and a HR Coordinator and be responsible for managing ER casework and providing HR support to stakeholders across your specific client groups within the directorate.

You will have a strong operational HR background, ideally gained working with a similar workforce, and experience working with and advising on the full range of HR policies and practices. You will support managers on a broad range of issues and cases, guiding them through both informal resolutions and formal KCL policies and procedure when required. You will need to be comfortable managing multiple priorities and working at pace.

Due to the nature of this workforce, you may be required to work some unsociable hours on occasion. 

This is a full time post (35 Hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract.

About You

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria

  1. Demonstrable experience of managing a range of HR and employee relations issues with a frontline workforce
  2. Up to date knowledge of employment law and employment practice, with a sound judgement in HR and ER matters
  3. To have experience of the management of multiple types of case work management and advising managers on a full range of employee relations issues
  4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage with stakeholders at a range of different levels
  5. Well organised, with the ability to prioritise effectively and deal calmly with deadlines and competing priorities
