About the role

This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and skilled individual to take a pivotal role in the coordination, management, and successful delivery of high-quality education administration within the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience.

The Senior Programme Manager, Taught Programmes plays a key role within the Education Support Team (EST), leading and managing the operations of all taught programmes in the faculty to provide an outstanding student experience and services to academic and professional services colleagues.

Working closely with the Associate Director, Education and key stakeholders within the faculty, the role holder will significantly contribute to the development of improvements in service delivery, establishing professional procedures within clearly defined university policy, and managing organisational change.

The post holder will be responsible for managing and planning their own workload and that of their team, which will involve liaising and coordinating activities across several departments; both within the faculty and at college level, ensuring deadlines are met. The post holder will also represent the faculty at college level committees and meetings, or working groups, ensuring that the faculty is operating in line with regulations, guidelines and best practice.

Managing a large diverse team, with 5 direct reports, the post holder will be responsible for ensuring that the workload and responsibilities are appropriately distributed amongst the team, that operational targets are met, and that the structure and operations of the team meets the needs of the faculty.

This is a full-time post, and you will be offered an indefinite contract.

The post is based at the Denmark Hill Campus, and this is currently a hybrid working role, with a minimum requirement of two days in the office.

About you

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria

  1. First degree, other appropriate qualifications, or relevant experience in a higher education setting.
  2. Experience of direct line management, and/or leading a team, motivating and supporting staff, managing performance and ensuring service delivery.
  3. Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate confidently, (both verbally and in writing), and influence colleagues at all levels.
  4. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to deal with a wide variety of people in a professional and assured manner including both internal and external stakeholders.
  5. Excellent organisational and time management skills, with experience of working autonomously planning workloads to support changing business needs
  6. Ability to work collaboratively and flexibly using own judgement, initiative and discretion where necessary
  7. Demonstrable experience of leading and implementing change
  8. Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills with the ability to contribute to strategic direction.

Desirable criteria

  1. Awareness of the current and future activities within education at the IoPPN
  2. Familiarity with Moodle and SITS Student Records system
