About the role:
The Head of Portfolio is responsible for the management of IT driven portfolios of change.
The successful candidate will be expected to build relationships across a wide stakeholder community and business partners, to ensure assigned portfolios of change are managed effectively and in alignment with the organisational strategy.
Portfolio management balances conflicting demands between change initiatives, working according to agreed frameworks to ensure resources are assigned based on organisational priorities and capacity, to facilitate achievement of the benefits identified.
The Head of Portfolio is responsible for monitoring and managing assigned portfolios by establishing and guiding the selection, prioritisation, balancing, and termination processes for portfolio components to ensure alignment with organisational strategy. The Head of Portfolio assists decision makers with the review, prioritisation, and optimisation of the portfolio, ensuring timely and consistent communication to stakeholders on progress, impacts, and changes associated with management of the portfolio.
The Head of Portfolio participates in relevant governance forums, agile ceremonies, and project meetings to ensure change is delivered efficiently and effectively.
This is a full time post (35 Hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract.

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:
Essential criteria
- Education to degree standard and/or equivalent qualifications/experience
- Proven experience of portfolio delivery including providing portfolio assurance and governance
- Proven experience of translating business analysis, requirements definition and business case production into practical implementation
- Portfolio Management qualifications/experience
- Proven experience of project delivery
- Good leadership skills and the ability to influence motivate and inspire others
- Presentation skills and the ability to communicate confidently
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of contract lifecycles, vendor management and procurement
- Waterfall or equivalent qualifications/experience
- Agile certifications and/or equivalent qualifications/experience
