King’s Residences is a department within the Estates and Facilities directorate at King’s College London. Overseeing 14 Halls of Residences for around 6000 King’s students, we are a dynamic and passionate team dedicated to ensuring the students receive the greatest living-in experience during their academic study.
About the role:
The main purpose of the Residences U18s Administrator role is to provide daily wellbeing monitoring and support to the Under-18 community of students living in King’s Residences. Each year, approximately 300 students move into King’s Halls that are under the age of 18, living across 2 of our home buildings – Great Dover Street Apartments and Stamford Street Apartments. This role is responsible for ensuring these students receive a robust induction into University life, as well as ensuring they have a regular “go-to” person for support and guidance during their stay. This includes (but is not limited to) overseeing a programme of appropriate events for the community (including orientation), ensuring there is an appropriately trained cover-team in place for weekend and holiday monitoring and providing a friendly, supportive service to the Under 18 students in Halls.
This is a full time (35 Hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract. Please note: this role is Saturday to Wednesday, with some evening and weekend work required at key points within the year.
About you: (the candidate)
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:
Essential criteria
- 1 year (minimum) of experience working within a HEI residence or similar.
- Knowledge of relevant UK safeguarding policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of current issues students face in the HEI landscape.
- Ability to practice cultural competency within a diverse student community.
- A thorough understanding of GDPR principles and data protection/confidentiality practices.
- Flexible approach to duties, e.g. re-prioritises work as necessary; receptive to procedural changes.
- Confident user of Microsoft 365, as well as large student records systems.
- Be able to work autonomously in a busy environment and remain calm under pressure.
Desirable criteria
- Safeguarding Training.
- Planning and running events for young people.
- Working with student with challenging behaviours or additional needs.
- Confident with public speaking in front of large groups.
