About the role
The Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures and the King’s Language Centre wish to appoint a Senior Lecturer in French Language Education (AEP).
The successful candidate will, as Language Director of French, develop, teach, and manage the French language programmes in the DLLC, including post-A-Level and Ab Initio pathways.
The post holder will also recruit and manage a team of French Language Assistants; and ensure successful liaison and collaboration between the DLLC and King’s Language Centre.
The appointment will run from 1 August 2025 and is an open-ended contract. The successful candidate will have a strong record of French language teaching and experience of managing language programmes.
This is a full time post (35 Hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract
About you
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:
Essential criteria
- PhD in French language and culture / applied linguistics / French language education or related subject
- Native-level fluency in French and very high proficiency in English
- Substantial experience in teaching French language and culture at all undergraduate levels
- Experience in the development of original teaching materials and modules and the development of language teaching via electronic media and audio-visual support
- Experience managing a team of language tutors
- An ability to liaise with colleagues, academic/institutional partners, and professional bodies
- Excellent IT skills (including Virtual Learning Environments and educational software)
- Familiarity with UK Higher Education practice
