King’s Professional & Executive Development (KPED) is a central directorate and business owner of Professional Education at King’s. KPED work with King’s nine faculties to deliver professional education to a wide international and domestic audience, partnering to design, develop bespoke educational programmes in line with King’s Vision. Our multimodal programmes include Continuing Professional Development, Executive Education, post-experience degrees and increasingly, stackable micro-credentials. About the role
KPED is recruiting an Assistant Business Development Manager who will work closely with others in the Business Development team and be responsible for promoting, managing and delivering the university’s professional education portfolio. The successful candidate will work with King’s faculties, liaising with external and internal clients and overseeing programme development at the pre-award stage. This will involve a variety of activities including business development, contract management, proposal and tender management, budget drafting, and people and project associated administrative activities.
KPED’s project portfolio is growing rapidly and expanding to include opportunities afforded through online and blended modalities. The post holder will be responsible for supporting effective mechanisms to enable such activities to 1) run efficiently and mitigate risk 2) extend the King’s portfolio and 3) build King’s international brand.
The role is primarily based at King’s Strand Campus; however, the post holder may be required to travel to other locations on occasion, be prepared to attend events in the evening/at weekends and may be required to undertake national and international travel. All team members can work remotely for part of the week if they wish to do so, subject to the demands of the post.
This is a full-time role and you will be offered an indefinite contract.
About you
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:
Essential criteria
- Degree or equivalent level of qualification or substantial vocational experience
- Business development, external engagement, programme or project management experience in an educational setting; to include working with numbers and budgets
- Clear and concise communication skills appropriate to both internal and external audiences
- Excellent time management and organisational skills
- Knowledge of contracts, intellectual property and other commercial considerations
- Excellent IT and presentation skills across the MS Office Suite
- Demonstrated analytical skills and the ability to process and explain information in a clear, concise manner
- Ability to work as part of a team and willingness to learn
Desirable criteria
- Experience of bid and proposal writing and public procurement processes
- Experience of reviewing commercial contracts
- Project management qualification and/or use of project management software/tools/CRM
